Adjusting Your Mirrors
Set your mirrors properly and understand what each mirror is for.

What This Helps With
Mirrors help you know what is happening behind and beside you before you change speed, signal, move off, pull over, or change position.
The Simple Version
Set the centre mirror first so you can see clearly out of the rear window. Then set the side mirrors so you can see a small amount of your car and plenty of the road behind.
Common Mistakes
- Adjusting mirrors before the seat is correct.
- Pointing side mirrors too far at the side of the car.
- Only checking mirrors when the instructor reminds you.
- Forgetting that side mirrors can make vehicles look further away.
What Examiners Care About
Mirror faults usually happen when you change speed or position without knowing what is around you. A mirror check is only useful if it affects your decision.
