What This Helps With
Left at a roundabout is usually the simplest roundabout skill, but it still needs early signal, low speed, and good looking.
The Simple Version
Left signal, left lane unless markings say otherwise, slow down, check right, enter when safe, and follow the outside edge to the first exit.
Common Mistakes
- Signalling too late.
- Swinging wide into another lane.
- Only watching the car on the right and missing pedestrians at the exit.
What Examiners Care About
They want a clear plan that other road users can read, with no sudden lane drift.
Practise On Your Next Lesson
Practise first exits at small and medium roundabouts until the signal and lane feel automatic.
Ask Your Instructor
"Did I follow the lane properly around the outside?"
Quick Self-Check
- Was my signal early?
- Was my lane clear?
- Did I check the exit?
