What This Helps With

DSSSM helps you set up the car safely before anything moves: doors, seat, steering, seat belt, mirrors.

The Simple Version

  1. Doors: make sure they are shut.
  2. Seat: reach the pedals properly.
  3. Steering: sit close enough to steer comfortably.
  4. Seat belt: put it on before driving.
  5. Mirrors: adjust them after your seating position is set.

Common Mistakes

  • Adjusting mirrors before the seat, then moving the seat afterwards.
  • Sitting too far back from the clutch.
  • Forgetting the seat belt because the car is not moving yet.
  • Rushing because the instructor is watching.

What Examiners Care About

On test, you need to look prepared and in control. A rushed setup can lead to poor clutch control, weak observation, and messy decisions later.
