What This Helps With

Meeting traffic is when the road is narrowed by parked cars, buses, cyclists, or other hazards and two vehicles cannot comfortably pass.

The Simple Version

If the obstruction is on your side, you usually give way. If it is on their side, they usually give way. But safety always beats priority.

Common Mistakes

  • Forcing through because you think you have priority.
  • Waiting too close to the kerb with no space to move.
  • Not looking far enough ahead for passing places.
  • Panicking when someone flashes you through.

What Examiners Care About

They want early planning and safe judgement. Priority is useful, but it is not permission to create risk.
